How to Delete a Single Image From an Instagram Carousel

Social

Previously, if you got carried away while uploading a carousel of images on Instagram, but later regretted posting one of them, you’d be stuck. You would either have to delete the post (the entire carousel of images) or just let it be.

Fortunately, for us who take our Instagram feed very seriously, Instagram’s finally paved a way out of this dilemma.

Here’s how to delete just a single image from an Instagram carousel.

Image Gallery (3 Images)

When you upload multiple images on Instagram, you can easily remove one from the bunch without needing to delete the entire post.

The feature is quite easy to use. Here are a few simple steps with which you can delete an image from a carousel of images:

  1. Tap on the three dots on the top right of the post. This will prompt open a menu displaying various options.
  2. Select Edit.
  3. Now when you swipe through the images, you will notice a small trashcan icon on the top left of each picture. When you come across the picture you want to remove, simply tap on this.
  4. Choosing Delete will successfully remove the picture from the carousel.

Limits to the Feature

At launch, the feature is only available for iOS devices. However, since the feature has been highly requested by Instagram users in the past, Instagram head Adam Mosseri has relayed to the press that the feature will make its way onto Android devices.

Additionally, this feature comes with limited functionality, allowing only one image to be deleted per post.

Undoubtedly, the feature will come in handy but to maximize its use, Instagram’s developers should roll out an update that is not only supported on Android but also lets users remove multiple images.

More Updates Planned For Instagram

Instagram has a number of updates planned for its app to improve its usability and customer satisfaction.

Hopefully future updates will include the return of a chronological feed and other user-friendly changes.
