Creating social media content is now a full-blown career for millions of people, where there is serious money to be made. All social media platforms are competing with one another to enable their content creators to generate money. Facebook has Stars, Twitter has Tips, and now TikTok has Creator Next.
So, what exactly is Creator Next, how does it work, and who is eligible to participate in the program? Let’s find out.
What Is TikTok Creator Next?
Creator Next is a TikTok initiative that offers creators a variety of ways to monetize their content on the platform. According to TikTok, “when you join TikTok Creator Next, you receive access to tools and features that allow you to turn their creativity and passions into something greater, whether that’s a side hustle or a business.”
Creator Next offers two important features; TikTok Creator Fund and Creator Marketplace.
TikTok Creator Fund
This platform uses video views and engagement to calculate how much a creator will earn. The estimated funds due to the creator appear on their dashboard about three days after posting the video.
To access your Creator Fund Dashboard, open your settings on your profile, tap Creator tools, and tap TikTok Creator Fund. You can withdraw funds (minimum $10) through your preferred payment method (PayPal or Zelle) after 30 days.
Creator Marketplace
This platform enables brands to browse TikTok and search for creators who’ve joined and are a good fit for their interests or products. The brands then contact the creator, inviting them to work together. Creator Marketplace also allows creators to search brands with opportunities called Open Application Campaigns and submit their applications to work with these brands.
Creator Marketplace, therefore, connects creators and brands.
Other Monetization Tools
TikTok’s Creator Next also has a Live Gifts option, where followers send their favorite TikTok creators Diamonds. Creators may then redeem these Diamonds for money and transfer the funds to their connected account. It also has a Video Gifts option, which is pretty much the same as Live Gifts, except Live Gifts are exclusive to live streams while Video Gifts apply to short videos.
Finally, a Tips feature lets viewers send a tip to their favorite content creators via Stripe. It works similar to Tip Jar on Twitter. However, TikTok caps Tips to $100 per transaction and $500 in a single day. The platform does not take a cut, and creators receive the entire value of Tips sent by fans.
Who Is Eligible for TikTok Creator Next?
According to TikTok, one qualifies for Creator Next if they meet all the following requirements:
- 18 years of age or older
- Meet minimum follower requirements (which can differ depending on region, but usually a minimum of 10,000 followers)
- Must have at least 1,000 video views in the last 30 days
- Should have at least three posts in the last 30 days
- An account in good standing with Community Guidelines
- Be based in the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, or Spain (Canada and Australia will also have access soon)
Besides all these requirements, we’d like to point out that business accounts are ineligible to participate in the Creator Next program.
TikTok Is Creating Opportunities for Everyone
TikTok has recently put more focus on monetizing the short-form video sharing platform. For example, the company has created TikTok Shopping, which turns the app into a place where you can buy a wide range of products through Shopify. TikTok also has a Resume feature to help audiences find jobs through TikTok.
The Creator Next program is part of a deliberate strategy by TikTok to transform itself into a money-making engine for itself, its creators, brands, and even its audiences. There is something for everyone.
