Clubhouse Announces Its Accelerator Program for Influencers

The Clubhouse app seems to have it all figured out—whatever it is that makes an app popular in 2021. Everyone knows it too. Twitter launched Spaces soon after Clubhouse blew up, and now both Facebook and Instagram are reportedly building their audio-sharing spaces.

So that just begs the question… what’s next for Clubhouse? That’s simple. All the competing platforms have a pool of influencers, so naturally Clubhouse ought to follow suit to stay competitive.

Clubhouse Opens Applications for Its First Creator Program

In a town hall on Sunday, Clubhouse announced that it was launching what apparently every big social platform needs now: a creator accelerator program. “Clubhouse Creator First” aims to teach 20 selected influencers how to host good conversations, generate a following, and subsequently monetize on Clubhouse.

Should that interest you, know that March 31 is the deadline for applications. It would seem that there are no other eligibility requirements other than having a Clubhouse account. Clubhouse didn’t say when it’ll announce the chosen influencers.

The town hall also detailed Clubhouse’s newest feature updates. You can now share links to conversations, and filter them by language. New users don’t need to give Clubhouse access to their phone contacts anymore, and it’s now possible to invite new people to the platform by punching their phone number into the app.

If you’ve already given your contacts to Clubhouse, CEO Paul Davison says you can reach out to the company to delete them. The Clubhouse tool is currently working on a tool to delete them yourself.

Additionally, Clubhouse will be hosting its first town hall in Italy on Monday, March 15.

Do You Want to Become a Supported Clubhouse Creator?

If we’re being honest, it’s a little awkward for the platform to launch something like this before it has opened up to everyone. Clubhouse is still invite-only; it’s not as if its influencers currently have a very wide reach to begin with.

According to analyst Vajresh Balaji, Clubhouse only has a little over 10 million users. To put that into perspective: Facebook has 2.9 billion users, TikTok has 2 billion users, and Twitter has almost 200 million users.

Not only that, but building a Clubhouse audience probably means you have be holding a live session more often than not. After all, conversations on the app currently aren’t archived—potential followers have no idea what kind of conversations you have with people unless they’re listening to you live.
